This course provides an introduction to information systems-defined for the moment
as the use of computers and other information technology in the information-handling
activities of organizations. This entails two slightly separate but related endeavours.
The first is to understand the technology that lies at the heart of computer-based
information handling, the second is to understand how such information handling
is designed, organized and applied in the tasks of organizations.
The primary objective of the pathway is to teach about the use and application of
computers in business and administration and to aid in the management of information
in organizations. The pathway also includes courses in the study of management so
