Komal Shakeel

Komal’s First Class degree from the University of London International Programmes helped her secure a scholarship to do her Masters in Social Policy and Development (NGO Stream) at LSE, as well as job as a research analyst with an asset management media and research firm in London. She also won another scholarship for a Masters in Finance at Peking University in China and she has successfully completed her Masters.

Studying an international degree, I developed the skill s needed to work independently and this is highly valued by employers and useful in your regular life.  I am also grateful to University College of Islamabad for giving me all the support I required  to top in my studies of BSc Accounting and Finance.

I am thrilled about this role as not many graduates have had the opportunity to enter into investment banking straight after graduating. Had it not been for University College of Islamabad and the University of London international programmes I would never have won a scholarship to study at the LSE. I have been privileged to have had the opportunity of delivering in a competitive environment such as UCI. Manifestly, quipping me for my future endeavors. Having completed my Bsc in Business, from the UOL International Programme, I pursued my higher education and went abroad to the University of Warwick, UK; where I completed my MSc in Programme and Project Management.

UCI has been an eye opener- an experience one cannot possibly have in other set ups. When I look back, it seems like a roller coaster ride; very much thrilling and before we even realized it was over. UCI has helped me develop the drive to initiate and lead in all walks of life. The UCI experience enables an individual in developing a sense of responsibility. From sports tournaments, elections and being president of the student council it has all been a very thrilling and exciting experience; always bringing back unforgettable memories.

Academically, UOL programmes are very competitive, and undoubtedly it is recognized in the same manner among different employers. In the recent past nearly every Human Resource department is aware of it. Speaking from my own experience, the degree is highly graded.

I have had the opportunity to work in different industries, having cross-industrial experience. Starting my career with USAID I had great work experience as Programme Officer for 4 years. Currently, I am the Area Manager for Nestle in Islamabad, looking after a portfolio of 130 Million.

Completed LLB from the University of London, as an International Programme student studying with UCI. Currently undertaking the LLM degree in Human Rights from the University of London.

I have spent some of the happiest and most memorable years of my life at the University College of Islamabad. The quality of lectures, lively classroom setting, first class resources and the very friendly and approachable nature of the faculty provided me with an invaluable learning experience.

I strongly recommend the University of London degrees to all who aspire for quality education at the comfort of their homes, as the University is renowned, flexible, well-structured with full support to its students. The University of London is ideal for busy professionals like myself who want an intellectual challenge combined with flexibility in their study schedule.

I undertook the graduate-entry programme at UCI and obtained an LLB (Hons) degree within two years. Successfully completing the accelerated programme of the University of London, with honours, is something that I accredit to the experienced faculty at UCI, easy access to an array of learning materials and the overall enabling environment provided to me at this institution. As a result of having an internationally recognised law degree, I was able to qualify as a Barrister from the Honourable Society of Lincoln’s Inn, London.

A. H Usman

UCI, is truly a special community in which the students, faculty & staff work closely together to support the growth & success of future professionals.
Starting ACCA with UCI and my first counseling session with Maria Catalina, Principal UCI was a crucial roadmap for my way to CA through ICAP. UCI has been the pioneers for bringing in professional Accountant as teachers. The learning process & grooming by professional teachers proved to be greatly beneficial in later years during the articles period & also provided know how about the actual industry.

Helping yourself recognize in the professional world without having international qualification is a challenging task therefore I opted for ACCA, because it is recognized world wide and also because it can be completed without having to move abroad.
I started-off with CAT (now FDA) and then ACCA before going for internship, which is must for becoming an ACCA member. ACCA also provides an opportunity to earn B.Sc. Hons. Degree from Oxford Brooks University once half of the ACCA papers have been passed. I got my Honors degree after completing ethics module and by writing a thesis as per the ACCA guidelines. ACCA helped me to get associated with big organizations like Ernst and Young International, LMKR, Pakistan Services Limited (PSL) and currently air blue Limited (a leading airline of Pakistan).

University College of Islamabad (UCI) remained my preferred choice all through my ACCA journey due to the learning environment it provides, dedicated staff and reasonably small number of students per class. I am honored to be a member of UCI faculty since it allows me to keep in touch with latest Accounting developments. Above all, I can proudly quote that studying ACCA was my right choice.
